I love this place during the summer time where you can sit outside and people watch. It's my favorite thing to do in EG. I live right up the street so i can walk here - perfect! The pizza is good - but i've had better at other places. Their sandwiches are pretty good too. The atmosphere inside is okay - a little too many pictures of the family, which can be a lil creepy. (What will that little boy think of these pictures when he's older, seriously?) Thats why i like to sit outside or get takeout. One of the waitresses is a bit annoying but overall, very friendly staff!!

Neat atmosphere. Nice staff. Pizza is ok. Kid friendly without being "for kids". A bar you can take kids to. Great variety of pizza toppings. Worth stopping if you are in the area. I would give 3.5 stars.

I was there the other day. To be honest the service SUCKED!!! A single pizza took over 40mins and the place was empty. And the price for a pizza OVERPRICED, I can get better on Federal Hill and still make out better even having to pay these gas prices.

I think Filippou's is hit or miss. It was great one time when we got it for lunch in the summer but the next time I got take out pizza and it was very soggy and not that good at all. If you just want plain pizza I would check it out but for speciality pizzas, maybe try somewhere else.

Greek pizza - a flakier crust than traditional thin crust, but still pretty good...their hot grinders are a real bargain for the size...never have had to wait too long for an order...

  • Dani G.

I have gone here a few times and it has been good. Recently had an experience though during which we waited and waited and waited for some pizza and calzones- really it was not worth the wait. Pretty bland and not super exciting. I dont think it lives up to its bursting reputation....

Well I would hate to put a bad rating.. but when you order from a comp. more than 2 or 3 times.. giving them the benefit of the doubt,, and still get something wrong every single time. I have no choice. Customer Service over there is ridiculous. Actually their just dumb. So my rating is waay to expensive.. for such a hassle.

My wife & I were actually traveling to another restaurant when we passed by this gem. The outside seemed so inviting we decided to call and ask if our two small Pomeranians could join us outside since they were in a stroller. Every single waitperson was super nice and inviting and we can't wait to go back. The pizza was excellent and the outside seating had overhead fans a huge plus in our book. If you haven't visited East Greenwich it's a super cute Main Street with great shops friendly people and a no rush atmosphere. This is probably one of the best experiences we have ever encountered. A must visit and we highly recommend. Thanks again

Their pizzas and sandwiches are solid and their calamari is good. Service is great and it's a nice lunch spot.

Great food, awesome pizza, but the twisted pizza fries are my favorite item off their menu! While I prefer the pizza from Effie's Twisted in Exeter, these guys do a great gov and their pizza fries are better than Effie's. Fun environment inside, good beer selection and fun to people-watch on Main St in EG.

Two for two at this great new find and will be back again for sure! This place is pretty cool and a step up from your average pizza joint. Located right on main st in east Greenwich it features a huge outdoor patio complete with table service and heat lamps. Great place to people watch. The inside is relaxed but not dull and has a full bar which I found pretty cool. I can see this place catering to everyone from families to businessmen and everyone in between. Both times I've had the pizza which was great and that along with is a cool drink is all you can really ask for. Didn't have problems with anything as some other reviewers and found staff to be nothing but efficient, accommodating, and helpful.

Update from my horrible experience with Twisted Pizza. They still have have not refunded my money for the inedible pizza that was delivered to my house. I have called over the last few months (yes I said months) and I have spoken to Kevin, the manager and he has stated repeatedly that the manager will call me back and he will be the one refunding my money. Still waiting. Making another call to them but not feeling very hopeful. I guess I should file a police report for theft! Save your money and go where the pizza is good and the owner is honest!!!

Let me start by saying this is one of my favorite places to grab a Cajun chicken burger and cold beer in the summer. I've tried everything here and been happy including burgers, calzones, salads, chicken wings, etc. I made the mistake of trying the pizza tonight. A large 16 inch round frisbee with burnt rubbery cheese and ketchup for tomato sauce topped with processed thin cut pepperoni. Just absolutely terrible, I can honestly say I should have ordered Dominos instead. If your curious as to what it tastes like just grab a box of frozen Ellios pizza at the market. Stick the Ellios in the microwave for 8 minutes to defrost and then burn it in your oven for an additional 25 minutes at 575 degrees. I'm not exaggerating, that's exactly how it will taste. Very disappointing, everything else is good-pizza is terrible.

Terrible pizza, lousy sandwiches, the only thing they have going for them is outdoor seating. We live within walking distance and have only had delivery, which took far too long for the short distance they actually had to go. After reading the reviews here it sounds as if the service is as bad as the food. Save your money, many other options on Main Street.

Have been here a few times and I think it's a hit or miss. The first time we came here, we sat down and ordered an Italian grinder with everything and a chicken cutlet grinder with mayo, lettuce and tomato. It was delicious! The second time we came, we ordered the same thing, but to go (we live about 5 minutes away) and by the time we sat down to eat it, it was kind of soggy. Another odd thing is that they charged us different prices each time and we ordered the same thing both times. The difference was about $3 .... not anything to break the bank, but it's just interesting to note.

Really good greek salad and nice medium crust pizza with fresh toppings. Reasonably priced. Service was efficient and friendly. A little better than a diner. We had a satisfying meal and would return again for their pizza.

We went last night for the first time and thought the pizza was very good. We have 3 little ones and the atmosphere was great for them. We all really enjoyed it!

Love this place! I live in town and dine in regularly. Tonight I got delivery (of a delicious chicken burger). When it arrived it was not what I ordered. I had used their menu on line to choose my dinner and what was listed as a specific burger turned out to be incorrect. As soon as we figured out what had happened they apologized and immediately made and delivered a new order.

Food is always good and my fiancé and I love ordering however, the service and lack of consistency is why I'm giving 2 stars. As a business owner myself I understand that consistency is the most important thing - when it comes to service and product. Most of the people I talk to when I order are very rude. I understand it must be busy and taxing to answer the phones all night but that is the business you are in so maybe be a bit more courteous. When I say lack of consistency I mean that sometimes I can get something but the next time I call "they don't do that". Well which is it?! We get gluten free pizza and sometimes we can do half the pizza one way and the other half another way and sometimes we can't. Why wouldn't you be able to do that? It doesn't make sense. And sometimes I call 15 minutes before closing to order delivery and it is fine to do so and other times it's not allowed. My fiancé and I work late so that is the only time we can order and it's frustrating when I call and can't get a delivery. I just tried to order 20 minutes before close and was greeted with "thank you for calling twisted pizza - our grills are off." Okay. I asked if we could get delivery "nope" I said okay never mind I guess - and she just hung up. So sorry I've wasted your time. I think from now on we will be getting our pizza elsewhere. My suggestion is to better train your people to know what you can or cannot do and maybe close when you're supposed to and not turn people away on a Saturday night because you want to close.

Absolute crap place. Service was over and hour to get a gyro and a kids pizza. 3/4 of place was empty. Waitress was clueless and restrooms were filthy. Will NEVER go back to this place. Stay away if you value your time and money!

This place was immaculately clean! I love that! While I'd heard great things about the pizza and subs here, I decided to go for the Fish & Chips. I must say that was a strange choice for me at a pizza restaurant because I'm very picky about my Fish & Chips. It was great! I personally LOVE beer batter so it was right up my alley! The thing I liked most about the fish is that you could actually taste how fresh it was...sometimes you can't even taste the fish with Fish & Chips. The french fries that accompanied the delicious fish were seasoned with what seemed to be salt, pepper and a little dash of Italian seasoning...YUM! They happened to be making a new batch of cole slaw at the time so they offered us a side salad instead...also delicious. The salad was ice cold and topped with thinly sliced green pepper, kalamata olives, cucumber, tomatoes and onion. I would definitely go back. "Why not 5 stars?" you may ask...well, we ordered an appetizer of Jalapeno Poppers that we weren't really impressed with...but no biggie...everything else was great, including the service!

"40 Years of mastering the art of pizza" ... O boy sounds good to me :) As terrible as this will sound we found Twisted Pizza as a last resort to waiting at Fat Belly's for the 1hr and 45m wait they quoted us prior to the opening of the newer locations. We figured huh no wait, It was a great decision. The seat yourself threw me of a bit cause I hate not knowing where to go, but it didn't take long before we were greeted kindly and they took our drink order. The first experience we ordered a buffalo chicken style pizza and it was fabulous. This time we both ordered sandwiches. I had a Large Buffalo Chicken ($7.5) add fries ($1) and my husband had a streak and cheese wrap ($7.5) add fries ($1), two sodas and a great meal, $23.81 plus tip. Not bad at all. The Buffalo chicken was delicious. It's not totally based in the hot sauces, it's breast meat fried, placed over the cheese, then covered in hot sauce and lettuce and tomato. So it's a good combination flavors. They have an extensive menu, but additionally ask that you be patient since they make everything fresh to order and I know I appreciate that!!

This is one of my favorite places for pizza in RI. If you are looking for a relaxed spot to go with friends to share a meal and some appetizers, this is the perfect place. The twisted special is a delicious pizza with all different type of meat, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and a crust that is so flaky and delicious, I have compared it to pie crust. The only issue I have had consistently is the service. We seem to get the same waitress every time we go, whether we sit outside or inside, and she just isn't on the ball. Forgets things we ask for, like Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes, takes forever to bring us refills, and just generally seems disengaged. It is not something that has kept us away however. We will just keep trying to sit in different areas of the restaurant to avoid getting her again!

My fiance and I discovered Filippou's almost by mistake while stopping by a local bridal shop. We ended up ducking in to escape the rain and grab a quick dinner. Great choice! While the service was not entirely attentive, especially considering how the place was pretty much empty at the time we were there, the food itself was fantastic and the facility was clean and inviting. While the pizza was delicious, the real highlight was the parmesan garlic chicken wings. Try them! They're a total knockout! Also, a teenager in a banana costume walked in while we were eating and everyone around acted like this was just another day, so expect the unexpected.

This is a wonderful family owned business and have been a staple in EG for over 10 years. The pizza is awesome and the sandwiches are fantastic! This was my go to pizza place when I lived in the area. They also have a great outdoor seating area with heaters. This is a great community pizza place that is awesome for big groups and families!

As safe places to go when you aren't sure what you want to eat, it's hard to beat this place. They have several options- apps, salads, sandwiches, pizza, and desserts. This is a good date night option as well as a great work lunch option. They have an outdoor patio that is covered for rainy or colder days (and heated). I've only eaten the sandwiches and wings, but on the four occasions I have been here for lunch they have been both quick as well as tasty. I have taken work folks here too and they enjoyed it. While this isn't a place I'd go for a romantic evening, it is a great lunch spot to go with friends, coworkers, or even a first date. Give it a shot and see what you think!

The pizza is absolutely delicious!! The restaurant is a cool little place with great decor. In the warm weather it is nice to dine outdoors. I can't comment on the rest of the menu items because I always stick to the pizza when I go since it is so good! But I would imagine everything else is as good as the pizza. This place has been around for a while and has a great reputation.

One of the bright spots for this restaurant is the outdoor seating option. Very nice open patio. The service at the restaurant was terrible. It wasn't busy at all, yet the servers didn't come by often and the food took an extremely long time to come out. The mozzarella sticks tasted frozen and were flavorless. I had the chicken parm pizza which was pretty good and the small pizza was a good size. However the 1 Star was primarily because of the terrible service. I understand a slower service with a busy restaurant however there were only 8 tables occupied the entire time we were here. I wouldn't return based on this experience.

This place actually used to be pretty good to sit out and have a beer and a pizza. We are flexible and quick to let go of one or two time issues but In my opinion the food quality has gone downhill fairly dramatically in the last year. Even more striking is the service that has nosedived even faster than the food-- after several mistakes on several deliveries and poor customer service experiences we have decided to call it quits on Twisted. I highly recommend you do not go here and more so do not get delivery-- as crazy as this sounds -Dominos Pizza is much better , you are better off with them.

I order here atleast once a week, the fries are awesome. I always have great service, always have the correct order. I have never ordered and been disappointed. The atmosphere is fun, while the food is delicious. Very happy to have this establishment so close to home. I completely enjoy each meal I receive from placing the order to picking it up or it getting delivered. The person taking my order is always efficient, repeating my order and giving me my total, I enjoy that I do not have to request such things be done but that it is already taken care of, most other restaurants in the area ordering over the phone is like pulling teeth.. the wait is always satifactory. I understand how long it takes to cook my food and they have never been late or have taken too long. The delivery person is always friendly and courteous I do not mind giving a generous tip. In my mind they have all earned it. I am so glad I have such a wonderful place to visit so close to home. I will enjoy this restaurant for as long as I'm in the area, and even when I move I will probably still be ordering there atleast once a week.

Went on a date night and was seated right away. The salad was very good and we ordered a 2 topping pizza the crust was fresh hard on the outside chewy on the inside perfect and the sauce was perfect as well. I want to mention our waitress was super super nice outgoing and friendly

Better than any other pizza place around here. We ordered a gyro pizza with extra meat (it didn't seem to have extra meat, but it tasted good), a veggie pizza and a cheese pizza. All three were cooked well, seasoned, flavorful, and delish. The cost is about the same as Pizza Uno (probably $$-$$$) but it's worth revisiting and they have a larger selection than the national chain restaurant.

They were ON TOP OF THERE GAME!! the waitress Erica super awesome your glass will never be empty unless you choose for it to be and you won't wait on your check. it was busy this time too. too yelp please leave me alone more lol.

Ordered the gyro platter which was somehow missing the lettuce and onion. Tzatziki sauce had no flavor, and worst of all, the gyro meat was the pre-made frozen box junk that you get from a food truck. All that says is the people running the place don't care about quality. The pizza really didn't fare much better. Sausage had no flavor, and neither did the crust. This place is in no way deserving of all the rave reviews.

Filippous on the outside might not seem like much, a pizza joint with pretty generous outdoor seating. However it is what is on the inside that counts. The staff itself is incredibly gracious and friendly, a rarity these days. You can tell they make their food with a passion, just as much as their service. They have an overabundance of different foods on the menu, not just pizza. I had a chicken burger, yes you got that right. Honestly it is far healthier than a turkey burger, so I am confused why people don't make these the new "healthier" option. The only strange issue was when we walked in, the entire place smelled like dirty, wet socks. I mean it was raining outside earlier and it could have been the rug in the front of the place that had the odor, was just odd the entire restaurant smelled like that. Not a bad place if you come upon it, the friendly service is what would bring me back.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had and one of two times in my life where I didn't leave a tip. My friend recently moved to East Greenwich, so we sauntered down the road looking for a place to have lunch and decided to give Twisted a try. We were seated outside and then promptly ignored for 20 minutes. We sat as the people at the massively uncomfortable wire dining sets around us (so uncomfortable - I'm only 24 and yet my hips were killing me from the wire chairs when we finally left) paid/left with the waitresses sweeping right past us. Finally I managed to flag one down and told her we had been waiting. She put our order in and then vanished. What followed was terrible service and bland, tasteless food. The waitresses "serving" us changed three times, and each time they messed something up. Our food order was taken incorrectly and was missing items, though we only ordered wraps, and then both bills were wrong and inaccurate. The tuna wrap I ordered was bland and had absolutely no flavor, not to mention it was exceedingly dry. Each time in-between screwing up our orders/checks, the waitress was gone for stretches of 15-20 minutes. It took us almost 2 full hours to get through the process of ordering 2 wraps, getting the check, and then taking our leave. The customers around us all looked as annoyed as we were, and I noticed one gentleman having problems with the staff ignoring him, as well, so I can't imagine that this is an isolated incident. Food? Terrible. Service? Even worse. Prices? Over-priced for its poor quality.

So this review is a constructive criticism for Twisted EG. We've enjoyed your food and service for sometime but on several occasions in the past month or so things have slipped in the pizza department. I'm not quite sure the ultimate reason but we and some of our local neighbors have had issues with your pizza arriving via delivery as a lava mess. We know it's not the delivery person it's the way the pie is being prepped and made. Maybe too much sauce and cheese (pizza 101) but when you open the box and all the sauce and cheese have slide off the crust and over to the side and its soggy.....it doesn't make for good eating at all. When we've called to address the problem your gracious to send another pie but yet it arrives in the same manner. Another shitty pizza is not the solution. Please fix the problem because this isn't the new consistency you want to keep with and we want to enjoy your food again.

Fillippou's Twisted Pizza is loved by many, but not by moi. I find the food there to be very mundane and pedestrian. The pizza is not really Italian. It is something else, and it doesn't taste like real Italian pizza. Nothing that the restaurant serves is really Italian, but I suppose they don't claim to be an Italian restaurant. They might be a Greek restaurant, since they serve gyros and Greek salad. The Greek salad is not BAD, but you can tell it was pre-made and refrigerated (I'm spoiled and like salads to be fresh and not cold); the salad dressing is definitely purchased because I've had the same dressing at other places - Quizno's to be exact - and it came out of a big bottle. This is not to say it tastes bad, just not great. A true Greek salad is made with red wine vinegar and olive oil, and it comes with fresh, room temp veggies and a thick slice of feta on the top. At least this is how they are served in Greece. The pizza tastes American. Again, it's not bad. It would do in a pinch - for instance if I were very hungry and someone offered me a piece of "twisted pizza" I would happily eat it, and I would not complain. I have eaten at this place several times (but not in a while) - and I don't know exactly where it fits, as restaurant categories go. It's definitely not Italian. It's really not Greek either. It just sort of IS. I guess you COULD call it a pizza place. I know a woman and her husband who absolutely love it. I moved here from a big city and unfortunately I'm very fussy about food - I like it to be wonderful, or I'd rather just eat a bag of peanuts. Filippou's Twisted Pizza is not WONDERFUL in my estimation (although obviously it is in others'). It's OK, it's fine, the service is good and friendly, and they deliver. Delivery is a big plus in my book. That's why I'm giving it three stars - one extra star for the service and the delivery.

We walked in lunch for the first time and it took 27 min for the food was finally ready. This was the same time I walked out cause of the wait. The waitress was nice but did not let us know that it took more than 20 min to cook a chicken burger. We were on a lunch break and I only get 30 min for lunch. Didnt get to Taste how good the food was, if it was good at all!

How would you present/serve a blue cheese burger I ask. Normally (as in every place ever) would place fresh crumbled blue cheese on top of the patty to melt just before serving said item. Right? Instead, I get a plain hamburger, seasoned fries (i count 6) and I stare at it's open face. Where's the blue cheese I wonder. *lifts up patty. Nada. Hmm. My girlfriend speculates that it may be in the little side container next to the coleslaw. Tada! Whut. Indeed. Blue cheese on the side. Of. My. Burger. Blue cheese salad dressing.

First let me start by saying my husband and I love Filippou's in E.G. and come here often. It is also our go-to place for pizza takeout. This is a place where it seems helpful to "know someone" or be a "regular." On really busy nights it can be hard to get outdoor seating but in my experience most of the servers recognize us and make sure we get seated and taken care of. The outdoor seating is definitely a draw. The patio area is fairly large and there is ample seating. Recently they added an awning with ceiling fans which is nice on hot nights. They also added a DJ who seems to be there on the weekends- not sold on him yet, I think it was fine before when they just played regular music. Also his lights are a little distracting. The inside is also nice with a large bar and tables off to the left. But I digress. The food here is pretty consistent quality and we have always enjoyed what we ordered. The salads are large enough to split and they come with lots of accoutrements which I love. The wings and fries are also good. I would not recommend the calamari. Our favorite pizza is the Twisted Special - I have found the specialty pizzas to be really good and they have a lot of variety which pizza lovers might appreciate. Their 16" thin crust is usually what we order although for pies with a lot of heavy toppings you might want to stick with the regular large size (traditional rising dough). The grinders and wraps are also yummy. For what is primarily a pizza place, this Filippou's has a decent selection of beers on tap, some of my favorites being Goose Island, Loose Cannon, Sam Seasonal etc. They also serve wine. In terms of service in the restaurant, it can be slow and you have to be patient. The menu even has a disclaimer about the food being made to order and that it may take a while to cook (though I have my doubts about how true this is). We have definitely come here and not gotten silverware or plates right away, even as we were served food. Sometimes you have to flag down the servers or bus staff. So this is not a good option for a night where you might be in a rush, or if you are very particular about prompt and attentive service. As I mentioned above, service seems to improve based on the frequency of your visits to the restaurant. Despite this, overall we are never disappointed with our meal and in general the experience is pleasant. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Several beers on tap (or bottle) while you wait for your order and/or dine in! Cute bar set up with purse/jacket hooks at the bar! Great pizza (love Greek pizza). Outside seating for warm weather plus propane heaters for the outside when it's cold. Delicious gluten free pizza for those intolerant our allergic!

I've been here twice both time after going for a swim practice at Goddard for a triathlon..so safe to say I was hungry and anything would taste good. First time I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap that was good but the service was terrible and it was a slow Monday night. Went back on a busy Saturday night and split wings and pizza with my fellow diners. Once again the service was pretty terrible, the servers seems in a bad mood and when asking for something like plates for the appetizer we waited for far too long. I'd probably give this place another chance but honestly the fact that I had bad service twice would make me take a look at the many other resturants around before coming back here.

Fillipou's Pizza or "Twisted" is a fun little pizza place. With a very friendly staff, and a menu that's true to its name, this is one of my favorite places in EG. The menu at Fillipou's is full of twists - the buffique wings, a greek salad topped with meats like a chef salad (JoJo's), and moussaka pizza just to name a few. My fiancee and I typically go for a couple of beers, the JoJo's salad, and hot pepper and tomato pizza. It's always a great and relatively inexpensive meal. Recently, I decided to branch out a bit, and tried the Combination Gyro (Lamb and Chicken). I thought it was a safe bet as I've been happy with the other Greek themed items (Moussaka pizza, for example), and I wasn't disappointed with the Gyro either. In fact, I'll probably go back for it as I haven't yet found any decent local Greek diners to satisfy my Gyro fix. My only warning to potential Twisted patrons who might be New York transplants like myself: don't expect New York style pizza. The crust here is a bit thicker and doughier, more like a tasty fast food crust, than a New York style pizza. It's great as long as you don't come in with the expectation of a thin foldable slice. If you're in EG, especially on a nice sunny day, check out Twisted and sit on the patio. There's rarely a wait, and you get to enjoy some good food outside.

Came here on a whim because my boyfriend and I were looking for something new to try and though the restaurants in EG were cute. We saw the outdoor seating and were sold because we don't do it often. The seating outside was cute and the service was good. We got a chicken bacon ranch pizza which was absolutely delicious and a chicken and pesto pizza which was okay. I liked the atmosphere and we went on a perfect day. Definitely plan on returning and would absolutely recommend.

Picked up pizza for the kids early Oscar Party dinner. It was about a 25 minute wait once the order was called in but when we arrived it was just coming out of the oven. The folks who work here are very friendly and it was easy to park in the street and run in to grab the food. The pizza is delicious - an endless variety of toppings and combinations. The crust is thick and flavorful. Unfortunately, there were red onions on the kids barbeque chicken pizza...which was problematic...but better luck next time. The pizza was piping hot!

Hit or miss. Depends on the day. Never better than good. Recently swapped out Heinz ketchup for some unpalatable brand Z swill. Since burgers and fries are a big part of your business, I suggest you bring back the real deal. Skimping on Ketchup is just dumb. Skimp on something less obvious and less visible

Honestly, I had high hopes for this place. I went in with my kids on a Saturday, not too busy. I assume we were waited on by the owner's wife--I say that because on the wall was a painting of the owner, his wife, and their son, and it looked like her. (Pam?) Never cracked a smile. Ever. Okay, whatever. We order our drinks, and my son decides he wants cheese fries. We asked if his fries with the kids meal could be made as cheese fries (obviously, I'm willing to pay extra) but was promptly told that no, they can't make substitutions. Now, I don't think adding cheese is a substitution, but still. No cheese on fries? How hard is this? My daughter orders mac and cheese. It comes out of a box. Okay, this happens at restaurants, but I'd expect more. I order a chicken burger ranchero. It comes with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and ranch. The bacon was that Oscar Meyer reheat bacon--it's not even fresh. Seriously? What exactly are these people good at? None of their food is original, it's all just food service product. Terrible. The only other thing I thought would be nice is offering a wheat bun to go with the chicken burgers. A healthier option would be nice. Needless to say, we won't be back. Ever.

Ordered takeout a few weeks ago. The wait was a long, but it was crowded, so I can understand. The decor inside was funky and interesting. I would like to try stopping in and eating inside sometime. The pizza was great! Very tasty and well made! We also had pizza bread, which was not what I was expecting, but it was delicious! I am pretty sure I gained a few LBs after this meal!

  • DTronic S.

I'm giving this place two stars because it has outdoor seating right on Main St and they serve pitchers of beer outside but this place is the definition of inconsistency. Sometimes I get a really good pizza and other times it is mediocre at best. I live in the neighborhood so I eat here once in awhile mainly out of convenience plus they deliver. My last experience here wasn't good. I called to order a pizza on a Saturday night and when I picked it up an employee came out from the back and made a point to tell me "we switched our cheese blend so your pizza might be a little darker". Right away I thought this was odd because I am by no means a regular here so why is this guy telling me this? I got home and opened the box to find that the pizza was really burnt. Basically the employee made that comment about the cheese to try to cover for the fact that the pizza was way over cooked. There are better options for pizza on Main St., Frank and John's is a couple blocks down and their pizza is much better. I would go elsewhere if you looking for really good pizza.

I happened upon this place by accident, I was looking for a bar but hungry and thirsty and with my pup I was hoping it was dog-friendly (they are), and they seemed to serve beer so I stopped in. (Currently, they can't serve alcohol outside, though.) It's a pretty standard pizza-sub-gyro place: inexpensive, sizable portions, kid-friendly... and reminiscent of many similar places along the Jersey Shore frequented as a teen... but it was a nice respite from the crowds closer to the beach. Actually, what really impressed me, and inspired me to write a review, was the service here. The waitresses were all really great, very friendly and super attentive.

Filippou's is a nice pizza joint just south of the hustle and bustle of downtown EG. I have found that it is a good place to go for outdoor dining when the other restaurants in downtown are jammed up. Pizza here is really good. Great servings, good toppings and the crust is extra crispy without being too greasy. My favorite is the Greek Pizza. Service can be a bit slow and the pizza is not the best I have ever had. Other than that, a solid choice.

  • Arron C.

For those familar with the RI pizza scene, Filippou's Pizza establishments can be confusing. I think there are 4 separate Filippou's Pizza joints, but oddly enough they are all owned (or run) by different members of the family. As a result, the food is not the same at each restaurant! Consequently, this review will only include the place in downtown EG. It should be noted that decor is not something that is synonymous with good pizza places, to the contrary, usually the crappier the inside the better the pizza. This place falls somewhere in the middle. The restaurant is very clean, but not very comfortable. Gaudy painted walls and hard metal chairs make for a slightly less than relaxing environment, but it's not to the point of distraction. On to the Pizza! Crust: Always crispy and perfectly cooked. Pizza's here have a medium crust (not thin, not thick either). The dough tastes fresh but no flour can be detected on the palate. Pizza's here can be heavy on the toppings and the crust meets up to the challenge and does not fall limp in defeat to the weight. Sauce: Sauce is OK. Not a sauce to make caserta's feel jealous anytime soon, but a consistent, smooth, well herbed sauce. Cheese and toppings: Cheese is plentiful, but not obnoxious, but the toppings is a really well done component here. The pepperoni sizzler for example has pepperoni, cappicola, red onion and pepperoncini. The seemingly strange combination goes really well together, providing something really unique in a pizza. The richness of the meat is offset by the bite of the onion and peppers. While all the pizza's are quite good, I especially recommend the Sizzler...

I've been there two or three times. Terribly slow food service. Went today and sat at an outside table. Ten minutes, and the waitress NEVER even came over. Saw her take an order from another table, leave with their menu's, and bring them inside. She COULD have given them to us. Will NEVER go back. Two stars, because of the service. I've had sandwiches in the past, and they were fine.

Just wanted to add that I had a meeting last night for which I had to order the refreshments. I called around 3 pm to order 5 pizzas to be delivered to the EG public library at 6:15 pm that day. They were very accommodating on the phone, even though they were in the midst of training a new staff person, and the pizzas arrived piping hot and exactly on time. Great job all the way around. The only reason I am still not giving it 5 stars is that the pizza is very good, but just not the best I've ever had. But for delivery and generally inexpensive pizza, I am a fan of this place.

Great food; friendly service! Tonight I had one of my favorites, the Buffalo Chicken Wrap! Filippou's Twisted Pizza just opened a new location at 915 Tiogue Avenue in Coventry!!! Great community minded owners!!

I have gone here a few times and it has been good. Recently had an experience though during which we waited and waited and waited for some pizza and calzones- really it was not worth the wait. Pretty bland and not super exciting. I dont think it lives up to its bursting reputation....

This could quite possibly be the best pizza in RI. The take out service was fast and every ingredient in the pizza was amazing!

Absolute crap place. Service was over and hour to get a gyro and a kids pizza. 3/4 of place was empty. Waitress was clueless and restrooms were filthy. Will NEVER go back to this place. Stay away if you value your time and money!

We have ordered pizza here for delivery dozens of times. We really like it. Just ate here tonight for first time. They messed up our order. Though salad and pizza good. Music choice stinks. Don't like listening to Journey. Sorry fans. Sitting outside is awesome. I'd return more. May wear earplugs next time. Haha.

This is a wonderful family owned business and have been a staple in EG for over 10 years. The pizza is awesome and the sandwiches are fantastic!

This place is perfect! Authentic Greek food. Heck, the owners are from Greece so you know it's good. Very attentive wait staff and fair prices. Plus, the bathrooms are super clean.

Filippou's and Frank and Johns compliment each other as great pizza made differently. Terrific crust, and the patio is the best around. Fine, friendly service.

Filippou's Is a well placed eatery, The staff are wandering about. Took a few for them to get to us. A large varied menu sports burgers and the such. I was in the mood for a Blue Cheese Burger. In conclusion: FAIL.

Okay huge portions when I comes to salads the cob salad I get with no bacon and extra eggs.... Yummy. Pizza is really good as well but the thin crust pizza is excellent. If you have the time I suggest you call early to order a Stromboli for lunch if you're having a party its gotta be experienced. The other stuff is good too... Staff always has a great smile... These people work hard.

Absolute crap place. Service was over and hour to get a gyro and a kids pizza. 3/4 of place was empty. Waitress was clueless and restrooms were filthy. Will NEVER go back to this place. Stay away if you value your time and money!

  • Truth Be Tol D.

Greek pizza - a flakier crust than traditional thin crust, but still pretty good...their hot grinders are a real bargain for the size...never have had to wait too long for an order...
